Protecting the Environment

WesPac is working with airports across the country to help them make the switch to receiving fuel strictly by smart energy transport systems. Why? These underground systems are the safest, cleanest means to transport fuel. They do not create air pollution or contribute to traffic congestion, unlike trucks, which are a significant source of mobile air pollution in Southern California. Cities such as Memphis and San Diego are following Los Angeles' lead to eventually eliminate the transportation of jet fuel by tanker trucks.

The Cost Of Air Travel

The cost of passenger air travel is directly related to the cost of jet fuel. Today, the airline industry reports that fuel costs, which includes the cost of transporting fuel, is the top cost of airlines, constituting over 25 percent of operating expenses (source: Air Transport Association). WesPac's S.E.T.S. is efficient and cost effective. In addition, it provides increased market competition for supplying jet fuel.

The Ripple Effect

Just as motorists pay different prices for gasoline in different parts of the country, airlines pay different prices regionally for jet fuel. The price of jet fuel in Los Angeles is used as a reference price for jet fuel throughout the western United States and beyond. An alternate pipeline system for transporting fuel will upgrade the infrastructure and provide additional competition in transporting jet fuel in Los Angeles and will have a positive affect on jet fuel prices across the western U.S.
